Melissa was born and raised in a small town in Upstate New York, and graduated summa cum laude from Elmira College with a degree in Anthropology and Sociology. She studied abroad in the Galapagos Islands and Brazil. After college, She moved to North Carolina to escape the snowy winters of New York, and applied to Elon University School of Law after seeing news stories about immigrants being banned from entry into the U.S. during the last administration.
At Elon Law, Melissa was a member of the Criminal Law Society, the Public Interest Law Society, and the Community Inclusion Committee. She interned at the school's Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic, providing legal services to low-income refugees and asylum seekers.
Additionally, Melissa is the COO at Camino Law, overseeing everything from day-to-day operations and systems to ensure the firm runs smoothly. From managing events and community outreach to handling all other responsibilities that contribute to the firm's efficient operation, Melissa does it all!
She and her boyfriend have five cats: Lola, Ruth, Marshall, Brett, and Mr. Rogers.
